We celebrated our anniversary recently by taking a long scenic drive. Such a nice peaceful way to spend an entire day together.
Our route took us through Poudre Canyon up through State Forest Park and over to the little town of Walden, Colorado. After a quick stop for snacks we turned around and drove back the same way…
I hope you enjoy these (a few of) the pictures I took along the way.
I’m going to try extra hard to revive this weekly feature here on the blog. I post often over at Instagram if you’re on there, I’ve stopped using Facebook entirely.
Happy Wednesday wherever you may be!!
Well, we finally did it! Bought a new car. The last 2 years have been a series of regular breakdowns and costly repairs, but we continued to feel it was the right option regarding my 12 year old jalopy. Then the squirrels moved in.
I’ve mentioned I had back to back flu and then strep throat earlier this year. My car didn’t get driven for about 3 weeks. Mamma squirrel built a lovely 3 room nest and had babies during that time, completely destroying the fluid and electrical system of the engine along with removing several important supporting clips and covers. We are still waiting to get a total on the damage for the insurance (thankfully we had coverage) but we also purchased a new vehicle.
Long story to say, we took my new car to Rocky Mountain National park…and I took pictures!
Barr Lake Edition :0)
What a crazy, disappointing, difficult week! A day out in nature was just what we needed. We discovered a new place to us and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The day was beautiful and the location perfect! As you can see E is almost as tall as his dad now… when did that happen?
I hope these pictures bring you peace and enjoyment!
PS – I will not be approving any direct political commentary here.
Autumn colors are everywhere. These pictures were taken more than a week ago, things are even brighter now and the mountain tops have received some new snow!
Happy Autumn to you, or Spring as the case may be :0)
Earlier this month we headed to the west side of the state for a few days. Back when J was often working out of town he earned lots of hotel rewards and we’ve been using them up here and there.
What should have been a 4-5 hour drive ended up taking over 7 hours, but it was very scenic. Several of these photos were taken while driving through Colorado National Monument.
Hi! Let’s just go on from here as tho I’ve not neglected my poor old blog, thanks!!
E and J went on a short, nearby camping trip. I joined them for burgers and s’mores one evening. I’ve also included a few pictures of some pretty wildflowers I’e seen along my way this week.
PS J took the photo of E fishing and sent it to me while they were camping, it’s so beautiful I get emotional every time I look at it!
It was a gorgeous visit to Rocky Mountain National Park!
I took this picture today on my way to the quilt shop. I’ll show you what I made with the fabric I bought soon!
We hoped to drive across Trail Ridge Road which usually is open for the first time each year over Memorial Day weekend. Due to our VERY wet Spring there is still too much snow for the road to open so we just enjoyed our day on this side of the Rocky Mountains, especially the wildlife, and yes it did snow while we were there.
We’ll have to plan another day to drive across.
Spring is progressing in my own back yard but we’ve had snow several days recently. It’s piled up nicely at the elevations which is good news for the water supply here.
Well, all our snow here has melted away, we’ve had lovely warm weather in the high 60s and 70s these past few days. There’s still lots of snow in the high mountains and they are getting more today. The areas shown in the first three pictures look very different today, I took these pictures 5 days ago. Also, all of these photos were taken on the same day, you can see how a change in altitude really effects the weather here.
That elk really enjoyed his little birdseed snack by the way.
I’m still in (super slow) recovery mode here, some days are better than others. I don’t go anywhere I don’t have to and have only a little energy to get things done.
We did go out for a drive over the weekend. Jerry asked where I wanted to go and I said I wanted to see birds. As you can see there weren’t many about, also we have no snow here, it’s been in the 70s. These pictures look more like Autumn than Winter. The thing I do love about there being no snow is that you can see the beautiful Winter grasses. They are like Winter fur coats on the hills.
