Some new things and about me…

I’ve updated the ‘Featured’ page with a few new goodies, this beautiful thread pack…with free design and some awesome quilt books, also some new take along project bags..Love Them, these are also at my Etsy shop! You can also find a ‘Destash’ page at the web shop, it’s just time!!

I’ve started a new quilt, I’ve gotten some new goodies in the mail (Aurifil thread) and I’ve made a new star and bought an herb plant. As you can see the clematis on my back balcony is also in full bloom!

Some backordered fabric has finally become available…hooray! Keep an eye out for two new things from Impie, Hattie, & Bea!

If you’d like to know a little more about me, I was recently interviewed for a new magazine, you can read the article here.

Pretty threads!

I love this set of threads from Classic Colorworks! This is one of their starter sets, they have several, this one is called Simply Beautiful and it really is! I have listed these at the webshop!

Recently I pulled some pretty threads together and renewed an old hobby. I do mean old! I leaned to embroider when I was six and it has truly been ages since I’ve done any. I’ve listed these at my Etsy Shop if you’d like a little sweet smelling pincushion/sachet of your own.

I’ll also be listing some zippered, patchwork notion pouches soon!

Happy Thursday!

Busy lady checking in….

That’s what I’ve been, mostly in the sewing room or shipping orders which is a very good thing but it’s hard to find time to do the work I need to do on the computer while I’m sewing or running to the post office! Things like blogging and updating the webshop have been neglected lately and I have lots of good things that really need to be listed!

Here’s a peek at what I’ve been up to. I have added a few things over at Etsy, and I have continued to update Instagram which is really easy to do from the sewing room!

One thing in particular I MUST list at the webshop are these alternative covers for the Lavender Huswife…both of these new Little House/Classic Colorworks thread packs are perfect!

In the meantime, you can always email me to order :0)

At the webshop, Etsy too!

I’ve added a new cross-stitch kit to the webshop and a few fun things to Etsy too. You can always find the links by clicking ‘website’ on the black box on the top right of my blog here (on a computer screen) I’m trying to get my blog to be more friendly for phones, it’s a work in progress!

Along with the new stitching kit – over at Etsy I’ve added some georgeous fabric, with some of my layer cake I’ve make a great table runner using this pattern. There’s a handy quilt ruler, I have one that is been put to good use along with my other new workroom tools – new year, new tools! There are a few Impie, Hattie & Bea things and even some knitting needles!

Happy Friday!

Running Low…

Here’s my progress on this month’s Sampler of the Month offering through my webshop please click the link for design details, thanks. At this moment there are only 2 kits left…

LOTS of Prairie Schoolers went out last week, I’m expecting a new shipment daily as orders continue to come in regularly for these…I do ship these in a cardboard mailer! Also, I’ve added some previous PS designs to the Prairie Schooler page at a really great price!

Back to where we left off for Heart Week…

The last little heart I showed you was for this Sampler Girl design, see her her Etsy shop for details! I baked some Valentine cupcakes and enjoyed this completely frivolous DVD (it has some charming bits but I did like the book better) over the weekend. I’m in the midst of and epic head cold at the moment and I think I’m running low on tissues!

Sniff, Sniff :0/

also Red, White, & Blue

Hope those of you celebrating had a wonderful 4th! Amber cooked a BBQ feast with pork, chicken, corn, potato salad, biscuits, pickles, beans, cookies, & ice cream. Ethan and I enjoyed the fireworks from the bedroom window later, great view, no mosquitoes.

Friday evening, I felt like making a quilt. I started with a layer cake and cut it in half. I had this completely finished, washed and dried about 26 hours later, it measures approx 40 x 50 inches. This quilt was my inspiration, using a layer cake rather than charms was quite a time saver. I’ve put my own ‘crooked on the rail’ photo here so you can compare :0) .. I have these layer cakes and fabric (I used about 3 yards, front & back) at my Etsy Shop.

Now for some blue, I’ve begun It’s Berry Time, Loose Feather #37  Blackbird Designs in blue. I’m stitching this on Fairy Dust Belfast using Wavy Navy Crescent Colours (as you can see). I’ve also decided to change Beatrix Potter to a blue thread. I’ve tried every shade similar to the original but just can’t picture it on my walls, blue fits right for me and this Summer Shower thread from The Gentle Art makes me think of Peter’s little coat left out in the rain.

Trying to take better pictures = taking lots of pictures, so I hope you don’t mind picture heavy posts…..still not quite happy, I think it’s a summer lighting thing.

First of all, I have two of these gorgeous French General Pincushions and Tape Measure sets I’ll be listing at Etsy.  The pincushion is very large (as you can see) and very heavy – over 2 pounds.  I love the fabric on the back and that wonderful French General Tag!!

I whipped up a little cover for my serger this morning. Yzma likes to unthread the darn thing whenever I’m not looking and if you have a serger like mine you know you need the hands of brain surgeon to get it threaded correctly and if you’re lucky it only takes about 6 attempts. Hopefully this little cover will help.

Made a quick run to Borders with my coupon in hand to pick up a new book I’ve had my eye on for a while now.  I’m half way through this book and enjoying it immensely. Oh, that’s a picture of my lunch…

Here you can see my progress on the Summer SAL over at the Blackbird Yahoo group.  SALs are usually the ‘kiss of death’ when it comes to me ever finishing – we’ll see if I do better this time.

Yzma says ‘Stay Cool’.

I have not had a good day. Technical difficulties are making life…well – difficult. I have a laundry basket plus of orders that I was going to ship today and then my printer and computer suddenly decided they couldn’t get along – no matter what. Hours on the phone with tech ‘support’ – while digging through my purse searching for chocolate, and they still won’t communicate. Jerry is checking out new printers at Sam’s club as I type this….

It has been cold and rainy all day, a cozy stay home kind of day. Dark and grey, but there was lots of color in the kitchen. Some fast favorites for dinner – not much time for cooking after I gave up with the printer. Havarti cheese and toasted bread, Polish sausage with peppers and onions (served with rice) and some yummy berries – I may have over indulged on the berries – they were sooo good.

Some color in the mail today too. This fun and wonderful fabric from Sandy Gervais. It’s called Candy Kisses and I’ve added some to my Etsy shop. I plan to make a quilt I saw over at Moda Bakeshop, too cute!

I’m going to stitch a bit on Beneath the Sunlit Sky til Jerry gets home, and then finish my work (and kick the old printer while I’m at it).

Rachael Holmes

Now at the Etsy shop, more honey buns! These are from Fig Tree Quilts – Patisserie and Blackbird Designs – Beach House.

I had a few minutes out by myself on Saturday and I ran into the cheese shop which also has a wonderful bath and kitchen section. I found this beautiful little glass for my scissors, can you see the tiny bee?

I don’t know that I’ll have much time for stitching this week, I’m trying to wrap up every bit of shop business I possibly can, but I would love to start this wonderful design during my upcoming break. It’s from Heartstring Primitives and called Rachael Holmes 1842. I hope to update the webshop tomorrow with several new designs – my to do list doesn’t seem to be getting any shorter – help!

Now in stock, two new designs from Little House Needleworks (love em). I couldn’t resist making a tiny start on Fresh Watermelons (over 1 on 28 ct Thyme linen from Wichelt) I’m thinking….pincushion. I substituted some Crescent Colours Ladybug and Old Oak Tree for two of the DMC colors so far.  I do plan to stitch Colonial Women as well.

Speaking of pincushions, I have a bunch of these pre-made very large pincushions from Blackbird Designs and Moda Home. These came out as part of Blackbird’s Beach House Fabric line. I’ve listed them over at Etsy or you can email me about them. I have some of the Beach House honey buns (Moda precut fabric) on the way as well.

A silly pictures of Yzma who also happens to have the softest cat hair on the planet (at least we all think so).
